The
Festival, which shares with Lagosians the best and most original works coming
out of African cinema, the Lights, Camera, Africa!!! Film Festival presents its
fourth edition.
Created
in 2011 by The Life House, according to one of its founders, Mrs. Ugoma
Adegoke,t he festival will once again hold over the Independence Day holidays,
from Thursday, 25 September to Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in multiple venues in
Lagos.
“Embracing
the theme Legacy, this latest edition
of Lights, Camera, Africa!!! Film Festival 2014 celebrates the continent's rich
film-making tradition, connecting the classics to the avant-gardists in an
audio-visual history that spans the times and genres. Our festival contextualizes
the work of filmmakers as a part of a larger tapestry of African storytelling
as a whole. But this edition comes at an especially historic year for Nigeria
which marks the centenary of the amalgamation of its southern and northern
protectorates.
“Film, as well as television, have been key to documenting that journey, taking stock of where we are today, and foreseeing where we'll be in the future. That is why we are digging deep into the archives to put into spotlight noteworthy television references, while the bulk of our programming remains dedicated to the best of independent African film.
“We also continue to pursue our education agenda through film-making workshops and panel discussions with industry experts. Plus, you can expect visual and musical showcases, and fun after-parties during our packed seven-day programme.

year, Lights, Camera, Africa!!! Film Festival celebrates many firsts! It's the first time
special focus will be paid to television, our first seven-day festival, and our
first international outpost screening event tagged 'The
Heart and Light of LCA 2014' which will allow audiences in London
or New York to enjoy our selection also in October 2014.
“We are proud to leverage old and
new partnerships with a number of organizations including the acclaimed African
Film Festival, New York (AFF), the British Council, Alliance Française, Goethe
Institut, and The Ford Foundation. We are also happy to deepen our personal
alliances with the likes of Nadia Denton, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, Tunde Kelani,
Femi Odugbemi, Edward Keazor and Chika Anadu.”
