Goethe Institut, Lagos presents ‘12 squares ‘




From November 22, 2014 to December 4, 2014, Goethe Institut, Lagos held a workshop at City Mall, Lagos.
Conducted by Monster Truck / Berlin (Sebastian König, Sahar Rahimi, Ina Vera), the workshop centered on performance art “12 Squares”.
In this workshop, the Berlin-based performance group Monster Truck examined strategies of performance art in historical and contemporary contexts, the defining and peculiar characteristics of performance art, the audience, characterizing performance arts that easily oscillate along the edges of both theatre and visual arts and the possible interfaces there are with regard to other artistic genres.
The workshop included students and young professionals of all artistic disciplines. Apart from showing and discussing remarkable cornerstones of performance art and theory, the workshop focuses on the practical approach, involving the participants and their respective topics with a final presentation of works on the last day titled: "12 Squares".
The participants also focused on the practical approach and showcased their respective projects during the presentation. It featured Irawo Drumline, Bhucee-Ijo, Clara Aden, Razaq Ivori, Rigobert Sileu, Yacoub Adeleke, Olajide Akoni, Bala Stephen Afen‘oko, Akrah Joy Princess, Shola Phebian Oguntoyinbo (House of Phoebe), Tanmola, Bimbo Olorunmola and Anyalewechi Alozie.
