Saro the Musical 2 holds from December 23 -26

After successfully hosting the maiden edition of Nigeria’s musical play, Saro the Musical, arrangements are in top gear for this year’s edition.

According to the Managing Director of Terra Kulture, Mrs. Bolanle Austen-Peters, the creator and producer of Saro the Musical, the second edition, which is a modified version of last year’s edition, will hold at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, from December 23 -26, 2014.

  She hinted that seasoned artists such as Bimbo Manuel and Gideon Okeke are such two new faces in Saro 2 added to it as part of rebranding it. She added that Manuel will mentor the four young musicians on their mission to musical self-discovery while Okeke will be one of the four musical arrowheads.

  For Austin-Peters, “It’s an honour having Manuel; this means the game is changing. He’s a veteran, who is bringing his expertise. He will also be father-figure to the boys, who will mentor them and help them find direction to move forward. It’s important for the young men as they form a career.”

 Directors of Saro 2 remain the same - Kenneth Uphopho (drama), Gbenga Yusuf (dance) and Ayo Ajayi (music).

Last year, guests were treated to four of the 14-scenes during the unveiling of Saro The Musical. Austen-Peters said a large turn-out of about 200 young people of various local and international backgrounds looking for a platform to showcase their talents turned out for the auditioning.

Basically, Saro The Musical is a story of four ambitious young men who left their rural homestead in search of hope and fulfilment in a strange city of Lagos. The play captures their various experiences as they seek realisation of their dreams and career fulfilment in the land of freedom -- Lagos. It is a story of adventure, youthful dreams, sheer determination to succeed; and eventual hope; a very positive, hopeful story indeed.
