Submission
for entries for the 2015 edition of the annual Africa Movie Academy Awards
(AMAA) has been extended to January 31, 2015 as against December 31st,
which was earlier announced as last day for submission.
The Director
of Administration of the award Mr. Tony Anih stated that the change for
submission date was made to enable filmmakers submit their films online.

Times gathered that the
extension was due to a crash of the official website – www.ama-awards.com which made it impossible for the AMAA organisers to retrieve
some of the entries that were submitted online, as many filmmakers from
northern, central and southern Africa were unable to submit their projects
online at all.
According to
him, “With this, we have allowed almost five months window to enable entries to
come from all parts of Africa and from the Diaspora Filmmakers to give room for
logistics of sending to our Regional Offices in Ghana, Nairobi and Johannesburg
and our Lagos Office, The issue with our website has been resolved. Filmmakers
can log on and get whatever information they want on the award. For full
details on the entry rules and format of submission, filmmakers should visit
our website: www.ama-awards.com,” Anih said.
He also
hinted that filmmakers should submit their works that were released between
December 1st, 2013 and January 2015 for consideration for the awards and added
that such works in case of full-length feature films should not exceed 120
minutes and must not carry any commercial of any product or service.
Founded by
Peace Anyiam-Osigwe in 2005, and manage through the Africa Film Academy, the
AMAA has become the glamourous event that honours hard work and excellence in
filmmaking in Africa.
