Burning of Jonathan’s campaign vehicles: Youths attack police station over suspects’ arrest
Twenty-four hours after the burning of two vehicles belonging to President Goodluck Jonathan’s Campaign Organisation in Jos, the Plateau State capital, irate youths yesterday attacked and vandalised a police station in the city over the arrest of suspects.

Daily Sun checks revealed that the youths went on rampage when
security personnel picked up some people over the burning of the
campaign buses.
The suspects were taken to a police station on Bauchi Road, Jos.
Angered by the arrest, the youths, who were armed with daggers, marched to the police station and destroyed vehicles and the newly renovated police outpost.
Some buses belonging to the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation were, on Saturday, set ablaze in Jos.
The buses were stopped by irate youths who shouted anti-Jonathan slogan around Mango Street and Bauchi road. The occupants of the vehicles were, however set free by the youths, before setting them on fire.
Members of the Special Task Force (STF), deployed to restore law and order in the state, had stormed Bauchi Road yesterday morning, where one of the buses was set ablaze, and arrested six youths.
The arrest of the youths, who some members of the community claimed were innocent, had led to a riot, with the STF shooting sporadically in the air to disperse the irate youths.
When contacted on telephone, the Plateau Police Commissioner, Nasiru Oki, confirmed the incident and said investigation was on going.
He said two persons had been arrested in connection with the burning of the campaign vehicles.
