Guinness celebrates #madeofblack heroes in Lagos and Enugu with thrilling parties

In the last couple of weeks, all across Nigeria, Guinness has been celebrating the unsung heroes; people who are doing ordinary things in extra ordinary ways; the dancers, the singers, the drivers, the barmen, the mechanics, the teachers. All those united by their shared black attitude, the people’s made of black heroes.

Following several weeks of nomination and voting for the best stories in their cities, it was time for Lagos and Enugu to turn up and celebrate their winning heroes at the #madeofblack heroes’ party held at Toscana Niteclub in Enugu and Xover l

It was an evening of fun and positive energy with family, friends and Guinness lovers celebrating the real people, those who believed in their dreams and dared to follow it. The party was all about the real heroes and they were awarded and treated like stars.

 The Lagos heroes who were nominated are Tayo Faniran, first runner up of BBA season 9, Tunde Adebanjo aka Euro, Temitope Okupe, Tony Chukwu, Caleb Oziegbe, Adonu Anthony Reuben, David King-Amin, Josephine Njokwu, Josephine Ukeme, DJ Toxic, Adekunle and Tina Nwosu. Their unique stories are a clear demonstration of the black attitude i.e. Adekunle, stands out as the guy who wakes up every morning to sweep the Anthony pedestrian bridge despite his disability and he has done this for the past 12 years while Josephine Ukeme, a policewoman has become very popular by her sheer passion and commitment to duty. Josephine tirelessly controls traffic at the St. Agnes Junction in Yaba and through her sheer dedication to duty; she has continually made life easier for road users. 

In Enugu, the experience was super exciting as fans gathered to celebrate their chosen made of black heroes, nominees from the coal city includes: Yellow man, a policeman, Engr. Kelvin Igwu, a Lecturer, MC 4 God, Uche, Ifeanyi and Nneka Anieze. Their stories show resilience and the true definition of black.

To make the events memorable and create the Guinness experience, Olamide and Phyno were on ground to party with the heroes and thrill guests to an experience of a lifetime, in celebration of the chosen #madeofblack heroes. DJ Spinall took the Lagos party to another high while Slow Dog came out of the kitchen as usual to put some heat on the Coal city. The parties also featured scintillating performances from other artistes including Sexy Steel, DJ Toxic, amongst others.

Speaking at the spectacular event, Portfolio Marketing Manager, Guinness, Ms. Liz Ashdown, said the #madeofblack campaign celebrates individuals who are made of more, bold and determined in achieving whatever they set their minds to accomplish.

“MADE OF BLACK is more than an ad campaign, it is a movement. It’s about the people making bold choices, those who ask ‘why not... those doing things their way and carving a path for themselves. This year Guinness is turning the camera around to focus on the real ‘Made of Black’ heroes from various strata of life across Nigeria. This is our own way of taking the made of black experience to the streets and making Nigerians a part of it”, she said.

In the coming weeks, the campaign train will move to Port Harcourt and the ancient city of Benin. It will be their turn to nominate and celebrate their own Guinness #madeofblack heroes. Guinness urges more Nigerians in Port Harcourt and Benin to get on the nomination train, and have a chance to attend the events in Port Harcourt and Benin.
